River Oaks Golf Club

Golf course is in great shape and the staff was friendly. First time playing and I really enjoyed it. I should have asked for a hole/course guide at the pro shop though as it does take some course knowledge to play well (smartly). It cost me on a few holes but overall a great experience. I love the layout, bit of a piedmont and mountain golf experience combined. Great job to the staff on the upkeep. My only ask is PLEASE put some directional markers in pointing to the hole tee-boxes as many pathways intersect on this course.

The owner has shown a lot of love to this course over the last 10 years. They have put a lot of money into it and it is in fantastic shape with all the work they have done. I appreciate the efforts. It has been one of my favorite golf courses to play since I was a kid. I bring my kids to play there now.

This well maintained golf club is shorter than the average courses along the I 40 corridor (In this case just west of Statesville.). But it becomes a real challenge due to the significant changes in the hilly terrain the course sits on. The pro shop has a nice array of logoed apparel and equipment. Green fees are very reasonable, esp if you are a senior and are willing to start your round after 1 pm. The electric golf carts are/seem to be relatively new and are kept fully charged. Last and best is the course's Eagles Grill, which serves good food and great drinks all day.

Greens were aerated recently and are still bumpy. Some dramatic elevation changes. Tee shot on 9 is blind and usually needs less than driver. Some very rough areas off the fairways, so you must be to hit it straight. Greens fees are very reasonable. 3 star rating will go up when greens recover.
