Carolina Theatre

Originally opened in 1927, the Carolina Theatre closed in 1978 and sat vacant for nearly 50 years. Reopened and fully restored in 2025, the historic 906-seat Carolina Theatre now hosts live music, comedy, feature-length films, theatre and serves as a community gathering space for civic discussions, townhalls, speaker series and more. Along with Foundation For The Carolinas’ headquarters and meeting spaces, the Carolina Theatre anchors the Belk Place civic campus.

I saw the Sound of Music here in 1965 as a 6 year-old. My senses were overwhelmed by the experience. I can not wait for the rebuild!
