Nellie’s, located just outside of Charlotte, is known for three things: providing true Southern hospitality to all diners; creating authentic cooking just like grandma would make; and the name comes from the matriarch of the Jonas family (yes, that Jonas family).

Boyfriend took me for surprise brunch! First time going but had been wanting to try for awhile. Beautiful inside, warm lighting, very friendly staff-our waitress was sweet and helped us make our food decisions. We had the fried okra as an appetizer- really good. I had salmon with Mac and cheese and Sweet Caroline (mashed sweet potatoes w/glazed pecans) - delicious. He had chicken and waffles and both the chicken and waffle were really good. We also had their $5 mimosas-got us right early in the day Lastly, there was live music which the website does mention and we enjoyed that as well. Well definitely return.

Went to Nellie's for dinner last night with my wife. It was her 1st time and my 2nd time. I HAD to let her try this spot! We started with the collard and artichoke dip. DO NOT MISS THIS APPETIZER!! It's SO good. No need to even think about NOT ordering it! My wife had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. She originally wanted trinity corn instead of veggies, but they were out. But our attendant, Emily, surprised us by bringing out an order of the corn as the kitchen had just finished preparing more (nice surprise)! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her dish! I had the fried chicken (white meat) with drunken collards and mac & cheese. I was concerned about ordering white meat since some places tend to serve dry chicken breasts, but Emily assured me that the chicken there is very good and she has never had a complaint about it being dry. Well, from the pics I attached, you can see that the chicken definitely was NOT dry!! I'm salivating at the thought of how JUICY that chicken was!! The mac & cheese didn't look cheesy but the flavor was really good. And the collards were really good as well. There wasn't anything that we ate last night that we didn't like. They have live music from 6pm and it can be kinda loud, but the young 18-year old guy singing while playing the guitar was actually pretty good (it's just too bad he didn't know how to play the song I requested). My wife and I tipped him nonetheless. Overall good experience and I would definitely be back and recommend you try it for yourself!

Finally came here the other week and really enjoyed myself. We came on a weekday during lunch hour and it wasnt too crowded. Our server, whos name I cant remember, was wonderful. The food was absolutely to die for. I had the Chicken and Grits and they were mouthwatering. We had the biscuits as an appetizer and they were warm and buttery, only thing I wish is that they were complimentary .Im always skeptical when places try to modernize Southern food, but theyve done a great job doing so.

Treated my sister to brunch on her birthday. I think this place is supposed to be run by the mother of the Jonas Brothers. I had the breakfast burrito with fruit. The burrito was a good portion, and came hot and filled with pan-cooked red potatoes scrambled eggs, and seasoned pulled pork inside. Wasn't expecting that as a combination but it was really tasty. The side of fruit was cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and grapes (not too good). She had the fried grits with shrimp and she enjoyed it. The kids had chicken and waffles and a stack of hot cakes. Overall I thought it was worth another visit to try some other dishes.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The venue was charming & perfect. I enjoyed the food as well. Wish I was able to try more of the menu, but I will be back. The fried green tomatoes were some of the best I've ever had. Classic southern dishes with added modern flair.
