We stopped by around 5 after a long day of travel. The restaurant was clean and inviting, and we loved the variety of options available. Pricing seemed really good considering the portions - no one in our party eas able to eat the entire plate regardless of what was ordered. Pulled pork was long pieces rather than chopped structure of other places. It added a variety to the sandwich and makes their meal stand out when compared to other pulled pork sandwiches at other places. There's a variety of sauces, and we enjoyed trying multiples and seeing what we liked. Chicken was more of a chopped consistency (ordered a plate, not a sandwich), and it had a white sauce on it. I'm not sure what it was, but it had a good flavor and it apparently pretty standard of BBQ in the area. Sides are wonderful. I'm talking cooked like grandmas at church did it back in the day, so go on and get the green beans, macaroni and cheese, collards, and banana pudding. While it may not be the healthiest option, it is the kind that's the absolute best and more than work an extra lap in the run. Or not. I'll be wearing these calories proudly. Pro tip: If your party orders different sides, you'll get to try them all.

This location used to be amazing but these last couple times have been horrible. These ribs are so THIN, DRY and TOUGH. Barely could eat any of it. For them to offer pretty much everything on the menu separately without actual combo options, I would think paying $18 for half rack of ribs that dont include any sides would be better then this. They used to be meaty and fall off the bone. I dont know what has happened but Im certainly not impressed anymore. Least the cornbread was good which only reason giving 2 stars.

Stopped by to get lunch, The guy that is at the register was rude no help for a first timer at City Barbecue. The place was easy to find and is surrounded by many other options for lunch. All the food selections are alicart so everything is purchased separately Good way to make money but makes getting a plate with all the fixings costly. I got the Chipotle bbq sandwich and baked beans and Mac and Cheese. The sandwich was on Texas toast and it was delicious to say the least. The beans were good but had a gritty texture to them. The Mac and cheese was really good. I would say if you like BBQ this is one place you should stop by and try. They have many locations here in Charlotte! If you go tell them Brian Sent ya! I ordered a full slab of ribs with a 3 side plate, which I chose collard greens with pork, green beans with bacon, and corn pudding. My wife had the 1/2 slab of ribs a 3 side plate, which she chose mac n cheese, collards greens with pork, and cornbread. For dessert was peach cobbler. The ribs were good I always order mine dry, with the sauce on the side. They were cooked good and had a nice flavor and was tender with no over cooked hard spots, their original sauce to me was good but had too much smokey flavor. The strings beans were good, the corn pudding was good, I think it should be just a little sweeter. The collard greens were to hard and the pork was dry and had no flavor. The mac n cheese was really good. The cornbread was good. The peach cobbler was good. Customer service was good. This place is definitely worth another visit. I recommend it.
