From cherished annual festivals to concerts, sporting events and more, there’s no shortage of things to do year-round in the Queen City. Mark your calendar for these 2024 events in Charlotte.
January
1. Embrace the chill of winter as you watch the Charlotte Checkers take on the Rochester Americans in the Queen City Outdoor Classic, an outdoor hockey game on Jan. 13 at Truist Field.
2. Celebrate the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024 as a new group of racing legends is inducted. Induction Weekend includes an array of special events for racing fans, Jan. 18-21 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
February
3. Enjoy an evening with the “Empress of Soul” on Feb. 21 when Grammy Award-winner Gladys Knight performs at Ovens Auditorium.
4. Get an up-close look at more than 150 of the most celebrated awards at the Mint Museum Uptown’s newest exhibition, “Beyond the Red Carpet: Iconic Awards and Artistic Collaborations,” on display through Feb. 18.
March
5. Indulge in the Queen City’s culinary scene during Savor Charlotte, a one-of-a-kind experience from March 12-26 that features hands-on classes and demonstrations, exclusive menus and special offers from some of the city’s best chefs, mixologists, restaurateurs, bakers and more.
6. Get your brackets ready for March Madness 2024 in Charlotte. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship take place March 21 and 23 at Spectrum Center.
April
7. Immerse yourself in the Queen City’s arts scene during Charlotte SHOUT!. From March 29-April 14, find interactive art displays, live music, dancers, food and more throughout Uptown.
8. From April 19-21, the U.S. National Whitewater Center hosts Tuck Fest, a three-day event that includes trail running, kayaking, biking, climbing, obstacle and adventure racing, live music and more outdoor activities.
May
9. The inaugural Lovin’ Life Music Fest, May 3-5 on three stages in Uptown, will feature a star-studded lineup of artists including Post Malone, Stevie Nicks and Noah Kahan.
10. Have full-throttle fun at the Coca-Cola 600, part of the NASCAR Cup Series, on May 26 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Can’t make it to the race? Relive racing history at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
June
11. Commemorate Juneteenth at the annual Durag Festival, a celebration of Black culture with live music, art exhibitions, a street fashion show and more at Camp North End, June 21-22.
12. Get a bite of the Queen City at Taste of Charlotte, a culinary festival June 7-9 in Uptown that features tastings from local restaurants as well as beer and wine, live music and family-friendly activities.
July
13. Charlotte hosts two matches of the CONMEBOL Copa America, South America’s continental championship featuring men’s international powerhouses like Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. Bank of America Stadium will be the site for the semifinal match on July 10 and the third-place playoff match on July 13.
14. Experience the ultimate throwback concert as DJ Jazzy Jeff and Paula Abdul join New Kids on the Block at PNC Music Pavilion on July 27.
August
15. August is pride month in the Queen City. Support the LGBTQ+ community at events throughout the city, including the Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade in Uptown.
16. Feel the love tonight when Disney’s “The Lion King” musical takes center stage at Belk Theater from Aug. 8-Sept. 8.
September
17. Race along I-277 in Uptown during the Around the Crown 10K on Sept. 1.
18. Enjoy an early-fall day at Freedom Park as you browse works of art and wares from more than 200 artists and vendors during Festival in the Park, Sept. 20-22.
October
19. Throughout the month of October, Carowinds transforms from a theme park to a “scream park” during Scarowinds, featuring spooktacular shows and haunted attractions.
20. Raise a glass to the Queen City’s brewery scene during Charlotte Craft Beer Week, Oct. 18-27. Take advantage of the Charlotte Brewery Pass to unlock discounts for participating breweries.
November
21. Visit the village of Fairhaven, through Nov. 24, to play games, watch live performances, browse the artisan market and eat plenty of food at the Carolina Renaissance Festival.
22. Ornate parade floats light up the night as they make their way down Tryon Street in Uptown during the Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade on Nov. 27.
December
23. Step into a winter wonderland at Truist Field during Light the Knights. Throughout the month of December, go ice skating and snow tubing, stroll the concourse decorated with colorful lights and enjoy holiday treats.
24. Close out the year by watching a performance of Charlotte Ballet’s “Nutcracker,” a holiday tradition at Belk Theater.
