In spring, there’s something in the air besides the singing of birds, and that’s the music heard from any one of the Queen City’s amazing music venues. Here’s a look at what’s coming to Charlotte this spring, highlighted by shows at historic Ovens Auditorium, Bank of America Stadium, and a newcomer to this list, The Amp at Ballantyne.
Gary Clark Jr.
When: Monday, March 10
Where: Ovens Auditorium
Blues and rock collide when guitarist Gary Clark Jr. steps on stage. Channeling the energy of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix, Clark Jr. brings searing guitar licks to life at Ovens Auditorium.
Deftones: North American Tour 2025
When: Monday, March 24
Where: Spectrum Center
Formed in 1988, Deftones have contributed so much to the collective zeitgeist that you simply must pay them respect. A pioneer in the alt metal scene, Deftones have carved out a special place in the hearts of their fans by boldly experimenting with their sound through the decades, giving them an aura that resonates far beyond their genre.

Tyler, The Creator: CHROMOKOPIA: THE WORLD TOUR
When: Wednesday, March 26
Where: Spectrum Center
Hip hop has no shortage of big names, but perhaps the one star with the broadest appeal is Tyler, The Creator. The former leader of alt-rap collective Odd Future, Tyler has seen a stratospheric rise to fame, paired with a creative evolution that rivals that of The Beatles. His latest album, “CHROMOKOPIA,” is setting the stages Tyler graces on this tour on fire.
J Balvin: Back to the Rayo Tour
When: Thursday, March 27
Where: Spectrum Center
Spanish-language music has been gaining popularity on a global stage for most of the last generation, and Columbian-born singer J Balvin has been leading the way. Thanks to collaborations with fellow Spanish-speaking performer Bad Bunny as well as English stars like Beyonce and Cardi B, Balvin has become one of the most recognizable names in music.
Experience Hendrix
When: Wednesday, April 9
Where: Ovens Auditorium
As the guitarist who continues to inspire new generations of musicians more than 50 years after his death, Jimi Hendrix will always be synonymous with rock ‘n’ roll. This April, see some of rock’s best guitarists, including Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Zakk Wylde and Eric Johnson, come together to pay tribute to the legendary lefty.
The Millennium Tour
When: Thursday, April 10
Where: Spectrum Center
Hip hop and R&B will always be a winning combination, particularly for those who came of age during the turn of the century. A select group of stars from that era will be on stage for the Millennium Tour. Catch Trey Songz, Omarion, Bow Wow, Rick Ross and North Carolina’s own Boosie BadAzz when the Millennium Tour comes to town.
Frédéric Yonnet: Jazz at the Bechtler
When: Friday, April 11
Where: Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
For a completely unique musical experience, get your tickets to Frédéric Yonnet, playing live in the lobby of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Uptown. Yonnet is perhaps the world’s most accomplished harmonica player, having jammed with Stevie Wonder, Prince and Dave Chappelle among others.
MIKE

Where: The Underground
Known for his hypnotic flow, hazy production and deeply personal lyricism, MIKE brings an energy that’s both raw and magnetic. Whether you’ve been riding with him since "May God Bless Your Hustle" or just discovered his latest work, his live performance is an experience you won’t forget. Expect heavy beats, poetic storytelling and a vibe that hits deep.
Japanese Breakfast: The Melancholy Tour
When: Sunday, April 27
Where: The Fillmore Charlotte
Contrary to what the name implies, the members of Japanese Breakfast hail from Philadelphia, not Japan. Despite this, the music of J Brekie – a quartet led by guitarist and songwriter Michelle Zuaner – shares some of its indie-pop vibe with city pop, a jazzy and bright genre of music popularized in 1980s Tokyo.
Fireside Collective
When: Thursday, May 1
Where: Neighborhood Theatre
One style of music that North Carolina embodies almost more than any other is bluegrass. The western part of the state, in particular, has produced countless stars in the genre, and Asheville’s Fireside Collective is continuing that tradition. Branding their own musical style as “groovegrass,” Fireside Collective blends loose jams with traditional folk sounds on acoustic guitars, mandolins and lap slide steel guitars.
Lovin’ Life Music Fest 2025
When: May 2-4
Where: Uptown
Back for its second year, Lovin’ Life Music Festival has transformed Charlotte into a music festival city. Taking over Uptown’s First Ward, Lovin’ Life welcomes some of the biggest names in touring music this year, including Dave Matthews Band, Gwen Stefani and Weezer. Lovin’ Life aims to be your annual introduction to summer time vibes right here in the Queen City.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA: The Grand National Tour
When: Saturday, May 3
Where: Bank of America Stadium
Coming off of a viral performance at the Super Bowl halftime show that still has people buzzing, no rapper is more in demand right now than Kendrick Lamar. His single “Not Like Us” swept the Grammys this year, earning five awards. Fellow Top Dawg Entertainment artist SZA joins him on the Grand National Tour coming to Charlotte’s biggest stage.
Kenny G: An Evening with Kenny G
When: Sunday, May 11
Where: Ovens Auditorium
Kenny G’s musical talent has always been the standard for excellence. A jazz fusion icon since the release of his 1986 solo album, "Duotones," Kenny G is a household name and deserves the respect of anyone familiar with his work. See Kenny G live at historic Ovens Auditorium where his brass work will leave you breathless.
Sturgill Simpson: Who the F*** is Johnny Blue Skies Tour
When: May 12-13
Where: Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre
Country music has enjoyed a revival in the pop culture consciousness in the past few years, but much of it is due to a rediscovery of the genre’s outlaw roots. Sturgill Simpson is one of the tips of that spear, making a name for himself thanks to slick but grounded country, rock and bluegrass tunes.

Shakira: Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour
When: Tuesday, May 13
Where: Bank of America Stadium
Highly decorated as one of the most successful female Latino performers of all time, Shakira is on the road for a relatively rare world tour. The Columbian-born singer has been a mainstay in the pop culture consciousness for more than 25 years, in both the English and Spanish speaking worlds. Shakira’s latest album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” (Women No Longer Cry), is the driving force behind this tour.
WILCO with Waxahatchee
When: Thursday, May 15
Where: The Amp Ballantyne
Indie rock legends Wilco are as busy as ever 30 years into their career. Having always been on the forefront of sophisticated but accessible indie rock, Wilco has built a career around blending diverse influences into their own unique sound. Joining Wilco on stage will be indie folk newcomer Waxahatchee.
Billy Idol: It’s a Nice Day to… Tour Again!

Punk rock as a genre isn’t as young as it used to be, but when legends like Billy Idol continue to rock on their own terms, it’s clear punk is just as healthy as it's always been. Known for an electric stage show and his iconic sneer, Idol occupies a special place in many pop music fan’s hearts.
Lucius: The Gold Rush Tour

Indie pop darlings Lucius are back on the road and coming to NoDa’s Neighborhood Theatre. Having built a sizeable following from just three studio albums, Lucius delivers colorful neo-psychedelic retro-pop songs with gilded harmonies and a striking onstage presence.

Halsey: For My Last Trick

Where: PNC Music Pavilion
Pop songstress Halsey is hitting the road this year and bringing indie stars Alvvays and Hope Tala with her. Since releasing her debut album “Badlands” in 2015, Halsey has been side by side with some of the biggest names in music such as Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers and G-Eazy. Don’t miss Halsey’s unique vocals and power-pop performance this spring.
Metallica: M72 World Tour
When: Saturday, May 31
Where: Bank of America Stadium
Perhaps no name in music is more synonymous with hard rock music than Metallica. For more than 40 years, Metallica has defined what it means to be hard rock royalty. Their sound is tailor-made for massive spaces, and it doesn’t get any bigger than Bank of America Stadium.
