Discovery Place Science
This post is brought to you in partnership with Discovery Place Science.
Charlotte is a city fueled by arts and culture — offering everything from state-of-the-art performance venues to interactive exhibitions. If you’re overdue for a trip to one of the Queen City’s exciting museums, we suggest putting Discovery Place Science toward the top of your list. Beginning November 9, this science and technology museum will be hosting a bilingual (Spanish and English) exhibition called ¡Cuba! Guests will be able to immerse themselves in Cuban culture through a variety of interactive experiences, music and games.
Here’s what you can expect
- From Land to Sea: Learn about Cuba’s fascinating underwater ecosystem by exploring detailed displays and lifelike models of the islands protected coral reef, the Garden of the Queens. Guests will also be able to check out live animals like the Cuban False Chameleon and Smallwood’s Giant Anoles (a green lizard with blue spots).
- A City Fueled by Culture: This exhibition includes an interactive art gallery where visitors can choose their own performance art, paintings or sculptures to be projected on the walls. All of these displays were created by Cuban artists.
- Cuba Tomorrow: Learn about some of Cuba’s leading businesses – including the tobacco industry – along with other aspects of daily life. Don’t miss out on checking out a replica tobacco shed and a classic 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air.
Discovery Place Science will also be hosting an adults-only, after hours event series called Taste of Cuba. Dive into the Cuban experience with traditional Cuban food and drink, live performances, an intimate look at ¡Cuba! and curated activities such as salsa dancing lessons. Exclusive offer: Use the code TASTECUBA for a $5 discount to one of the programs from the series: Fiesta (November 9), Sip (November 21) and Live (December 4)
The exhibition runs from November 9, 2019 through January 1, 2020.
