Neighborhood Explorer: LoSo
Lower South End also known to many Charlotteans as “LoSo,” is one of the hottest neighborhoods in the city.
by Sallie Funderburk
This vibrant entertainment district is filled with breweries, trendy restaurants and is easily accessible to the light rail. Located less than 10 minutes from Uptown Charlotte, here are a few reasons why you should explore LoSo.
Play
Take advantage of one of the most unique experiences in LoSo, a cooking class at Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen. Whether you’d like to sharpen your skills or explore new cuisines, there’s a class for every skill level. This will not only be an enjoyable experience for you but it’s a great group activity in the heart of the neighborhood. Test your decoding and puzzle skills at Escape Tactic, which features seven themed escape rooms – from Flight 282 to Amazon Survival. If your crew is in the mood to do a fun workout, Inner Peaks should be at the top of your list. This state-of-the-art indoor climbing facility provides an environment for first-time and advanced climbers, who want to stay fit, reduce stress and meet new people.
Eat & Drink
Start off the day with a delicious latte and bagel from Mugshots Coffee + Tea. After your morning pick-me-up, there’s a lot of options to choose from for lunch and drinks. At Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, you can expect rich history as Charlotte’s oldest brewery and beer garden. Sip on German-style beer like the Captain Jack pilsner or the 704 Hazy wheat ale. Sit outside, grab a giant slice of pizza and pair it with a cocktail at Protagonist. For fun games like bowling and skee ball, visit Queen Park Social. Or hang out under the covered patio at Brewers at 4001 Yancey, and dine on homemade pimento cheese, burgers, bowls and more.
